Brynne Higley:

Assistant Secretary

Advisory Council

Brynne graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Just shortly after getting married she began working in the Intermediate Care Unit (step-down ICU) at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. After her husband, Jared, graduated in Finance from BYU they moved back to Boise with their daughter.

She then began working in the ICU at St Luke’s for the next couple years. After having their second child she took a year off of nursing. When she returned she decided to switch things up and worked on the postpartum mother-baby unit for the next number of years. During this time she had 3 more children. After working for 10 years as a nurse she decided to (temporarily) hang up her stethoscope and focus her time and energy on being a full time mom to her 5 children. She says it’s the best decision she ever made. As much as she loved working as a nurse, and caring for her patients, nothing has brought her greater joy than being a mother to her children. She looks forward to the time when her children are grown, though, and she can return to nursing.

When she’s not busy caring for her family you might find her spinning, lifting weights, gardening, baking/cooking, or working on DIY home projects. She is passionate about health and fitness, and has also developed a love for plant-based nutrition and cooking in the last few years.

Katie Bates:

Assistant Secretary

Advisory Council

Katie graduated from BYU as a registered nurse in 2010 and has spent most those years as a pediatric and labor and delivery nurse. She has enjoyed the many opportunities nursing offers from traveling nursing around the US to international humanitarian nursing in Africa. She loves learning about other cultures, meeting new people, and getting a taste for new foods. Katie is currently working as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is grateful for a job where she gets to help people feel better every day. When she’s not working she is an avid traveler, enthusiastic story teller, and poor sleeper due to the draw of many a great book.
